Semaphore 2009.
These awards are granted on a proposal from Cordoba to lights that encourage pedestrian mobility unless, either by having to be an athlete to pass time in green, or by making unbearable wait times for people who want to cross . The aim is to reflect the public on the figure of light, usually aimed at maximizing the flow and speed of vehicles, and how these would not be necessary in most cases if the conditions of density and speed of the vehicles were appropriate for making cities more livable, and can be replaced by steps pedestrians, or simply setting a switch to green that happen immediately after being called by the pedestrian, as is already happening in parts of Europe. The winners this year were:
Athlete Award for Traffic Light (purple on the map) to the traffic light located at Vallellano Avenue, next to the police station. This light is converted into a torture for older people or some sort of difficulty in mobility, since its time step in such cases is insufficient. We propose that the immediate start button is green to always provide pedestrian movement. This category has been awarded a second prize at the traffic light at the corner of the County Council to Ferdinand and Isabella, which requires about a minute wait to cross a single lane, which also leads to absurd circumstances illegal for pedestrians to skip it. We propose in this case replaced by a zebra crossing, considering it completely unnecessary and uncomfortable for pedestrians.
